For special excursions, such as an excursion just for your group or school at a time to be determined together, please contact us first.
Excursions to the flint mine are on the days indicated in the colored circles in the calendar shown here.
The excursion starts on:
- Every Wednesday evening in April and September at 6:30 PM
- Every Wednesday evening from May to August at 7:00 PM
- Every Saturday afternoon at 2:00 PM
- Every Sunday afternoon at 2:00 PM
During the holidays, additional excursions are offered on:
- Wednesday mornings at 10:00 AM
- Wednesday afternoons at 2:00 PM
- Thursday evenings at 7:00 PM
- Saturday mornings at 10:00 AM
The excursion starts at:
- On Tuesdays, the excursion starts from Camping de Bosrand, Moerslag 4, 6265 NC Sint Geertruid.
- On Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays, the excursion starts from the large free parking lot at Rijksweg 184, 6247 AN Rijckholt.
The guide will be waiting for you at the starting point. Please arrive fifteen minutes before the start of the tour. The tour lasts 2.5 hours.
The tour consists of a 1.5 to 2 km walk (over 4 km on Tuesdays) to the mine along field and forest paths, a visit underground to the mine, and finally the return walk. Due to the elevation gain and unevenness of the route, this tour is not suitable for people with walking difficulties.
The underground temperature of the mine is 11°C. Warm clothing and walking shoes are recommended, even in summer. There is ample lighting in the mine, and there is no climbing or crawling required. The tour is suitable for all ages, and special attention is given to children. Dogs are allowed, provided they are kept on a leash.
In extreme weather conditions, the tour may be canceled.
